KIJIJI DESIGN CENTER
Reimagining Black Space. Inspiring the Future.
We are designing a future that sees, serves, and celebrates African people.
Why We Exist
Less than 2% of licensed architects in the United States are Black. The KIJIJI Design Center exists to change that—by igniting the imaginations of Black children, cultivating African-centered design thinking, and building pathways to careers that shape the built environment in our image.
Core Initiatives
Research
Advancing African-centered knowledge. We investigate the architectural past and future of African people—designing not just buildings, but philosophies of space, community, and liberation.
Mentorship
Guiding the next generation toward a bright future. We connect youth with experienced professionals, helping them see themselves as designers, planners, and dreamers of space.
Outreach
Reaching youth where they are. Whether in schools or through media like cartoons and storytelling, we bring the message: Black children can be architects too.
